www.uidai.gov.in is the website of the Unique Identification Authority of India or UIDAI. The main objective for the establishment of UIDAI was to provide Unique Identification Numbers or UIDs named Aadhaar to all the residents of India.

Structure of uidai.gov.in Portal

The website of UIDAI offers a number of services to individuals like Aadhaar enrolment, Aadhaar number verification, locking or unlocking biometrics and checking Aadhaar and bank account linking status etc.

On the homepage of UIDAI website or Aadhaar portal, you will find Aadhaar related services listed under four heads:

Aadhaar Enrolment

This option gives individuals facility to find their nearest banks and post offices where Aadhaar enrolment can be done.

By choosing this option, individuals can locate any Aadhaar enrolment centre.

If you have enrolled for Aadhaar, you can select this option to check if your Aadhaar is generated or not.

This facility allows the user to download E-Aadhaar by using your Aadhaar, EID or  VID.

By using this facility, you can get your Aadhaar number on your mobile phone.

If you lose your Aadhaar number or Enrolment number, you can retrieve it from here.

Aadhaar Update

If your demographic details i.e. address has changed, you can update the new details in your Aadhaar here.

If you want to update any information other than your address, you cannot do it online. You need to visit an Aadhaar enrolment centre. You can find your nearest Aadhaar enrolment centre (or Permanent Enrolment Centre) using this facility.

Once you have updated any details at any of the Permanent Enrolment Centres, you can use this facility to check if the changes have been incorporated in your Aadhaar.

Aadhaar Services


Here you can verify if your Aadhaar number is valid or has been deactivated.

This option is useful if you want to check whether your email or mobile number is registered in Aadhaar database or not.

Here you can secure your biometric details as per your need.

This facility allows you to check you Aadhaar/VID and Bank Account Linking Status in NCPI mapper.

You can view your authentication details here.

This option lets users generate their 16 digit virtual ID or VID.

FAQs and Quick Links

FAQs section provides a drop-down menu from which you can select a topic around which you want to find frequently asked questions by users. Quick Links section provides links to various useful services and features of the website.

Media Room

This section of the uidai.gov.in website provides users access to various videos related to interviews, events and tutorials created by UIDAI.
