We still remember the uproar created in the social media when the Aadhaar Card was proposed to be made mandatory for every Indian citizen of the country. But over the recent few months one can realize how the Aadhaar Card has become a key identity document.
Aadhaar Card is one of the major initiates taken by the Union Government to provide a unique identification to the citizens of the country. It also allows for a smooth flow of the governance and ensures eligible persons are not missed out in receiving the benefits or subsidies etc that are offered by the government. It is strictly advised that all the citizens of India apply for the Aadhaar Card as its helpful in linking with various bank accounts, mobile services etc. This guide explains the process to download the Aadhaar Enrolment Form.
The Aadhaar application is available at the Enrolment Centres or can be downloaded online from the UIDAI web site. It’s a two-page document with the first page that needs to be filled and the second page has instructions for reference while filling up the form.
The Aadhaar Enrolment Form can be used in case an individual wants to change or correct any of the details. In this scenario the 12-digit Aadhaar number needs to be entered and fill up those columns that needs to be corrected.

The first step to apply for Aadhaar Card is to fill up the Enrolment application form.
The Enrolment/Correction Form is available on the UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) web site. The form can be downloaded and submitted online or by visiting the nearest Enrolment Centre. But the applicant should visit the Aadhaar Centre to submit the biometric and demographic details along with the proof of documents like Date of Birth certificate, Photo Identity, Address Proof etc.
All Indian residents are eligible to apply and get an Aadhaar Card identity along with newborns in the country. Either one of the parents can apply for an Aadhaar card for children below 5 years of age.
The person has to visit nearest Enrolment Centre to update the mobile number. Otherwise at the time of application, once the mobile number is declared in the Enrolment form, it automatically gets linked with the Aadhaar Card.
Once the enrolment process is done, the official at the centre provides the Acknowledgement Slip that has the Enrolment Number. This number is helpful in tracking the status of the application from the UIDAI web site.
After the enrolment for Aadhaar Card and the card is not yet received by the applicant, then it can be downloaded through UIDAI portal. The E-Aadhaar is accepted everywhere until the actual card is despatched to the address mentioned in the registration form.
The government along with UIDAI has ensured that the Enrolment Centres assist the residents to apply and receive the Aadhaar card through smooth and simple process. This concept of providing universal identity to all Indian residents is treated to be one of the biggest reforms in the world.
